If you pay a mortgage and run into financial difficulties there are certain benefits you may be able to claim.

Usually if you are on Income Support or JobSeekers Allowance, you will be able claim benefit for the interest you pay on your mortgage. You won’t normally get any money towards the intial amount you borrowed. If you are on a low income or claiming benefits it is well worth seeking further advice as to what benefits are available to you. The Citizen’s Advice Bureau or Job Centre should be able to help you.
